Navigator California Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Off kind of red hue with aromas of sweet savory spices, with a touch of cigar ash, mocha hints, and sweet red berries Palate--Dense flavor filled first impression with huge mouth filling fruit forward presentation with a lovely bitterness mid palate which I find in better reds. The finish goes on and on. This is made by the Precision Wine Company which honestly I have never heard of.  It is made from sourced grapes all over California potentially but sometime wineries are able to score a sale on super quality grapes in excess from suppliers with a glut. But because they are from varied regions or (AVA's) they can only be labeled as "California." I paid $13 for this Cab which was originally marketed at $30.  I see it on the web from $20 - $30. At $13 I would buy a case; at $25 I would say "OK" so it's your call to raise a glass or not!

Scotto Family Cellars Old Vine Zinfandel 2013

Strong cherry hue with aromas of cinnamon, vibrant red berry and classic savory varietal bouquet. Palate--Juicy, major fruit core with a central beam of really spicy (spiced apples) nicely integrated all around with a mind blowing Zin experience for the price of $8 at Trader Joes.  SHUT UP!  No seriously this is amazing and at this price from TJ ($13 elsewhere which is still a super value at that price) I will be stocking up so raise a glass!

Chateau Tanunda Matthews Road 2015

This Aussie varietal has a black cherry hue with aromas of rustic green fruit up front with riper red berry and touch of mocha with fresh dark berries at the rim. Palate--Soft tannins, fruit forward, mid palate with rich darker berries and herbal finish with lasting mouth feel. This Barossa Cabernet is easy drinking if a little "manufactured" but pleasant with a slightly green after taste.  I don't remember what I paid for it but it runs around $13 which is a decent price for this single vineyard entry level Cabernet.  It would pair well with grilled meats, hearty cheeses, tomato based sauces and pizza which is what I will be having with it.  Not remarkable but solid.
