Castello Di Albola Chianti Classico Riserva 2013

Watery crystalline garnet showing a touch of age at the rim Bouquet of Luxardo cherries, a slight touch of menthol, savory spice that is gentle. Palate-- Disappointing first impression, watery texture, understated flavors all around, completely integrated, with cherry, and spices which also present in the nose.  Finish is fleeting. This is really quite lacking all the way around although what is there is actually very nice.  The 2013 vintage was a well rated vintage so I don't really know what the issue is here.  Don't get me wrong, this is a nice drinking wine and will go well with my homemade lasagna in a minute.  I am glad I paid $15 for it rather than the sup[posed actual price of $32.  At $15, I would say raise a glass!  Above this, I might just pass.

King Chancho 2017 (Bandito's blood Red Blend)

Beautiful bouquet of sweet and savory spiced blueberries, a touch of cocoa and menthol Palate--Sweet front with velvety tannins, bold fruit forward, big ripe berry flavors and a blackberry cream bon-bon and cocoa finish. I paid $14 for this lark and it is quite delicious and will go great with my Sunday night pizza. I am guessing it is a blend of Zinfandel, and a melange of classic grapes to meld into this easy quaff. For the price, it's a nice drink so raise a glass!

Borgo Scopeta 2015

Slightly muted cherry hue with clear ricking at the rim. Nice bouquet rises of cocoa dust, fragrant pie cherry fruit with a wonderful savory overlay that is spicy and sweet. Palate--Tart first impression with all the goodness of the bouquet absent in the mouth. Austere, over the hill but still very drinkable at the moment and might surprise me when I pair it with my bruschetta I am preparing. I just bought this at an out of state wine store that runs great deals. I paid $12 for this marked down from $20.  *It may just be over the hill. *Okay then--with my bruschetta this wine is wonderful!  This is a great example of the difference between a "food wine" and a wine that drinks well all by itself.  If you find this for $10-12 grab it and have it with a nice pasta and tomato based sauce dish and you will love it. Or even with pizza sp raise a glass!
